I was inspired in my choice to travel to China after taking my students on a field trip to the National Geographic Museum last year to see the traveling exhibit of a small portion of the Terra Cotta Army. Being so close to an actual piece of ancient history made the people and culture more real to both me and my students. Each year, when I introduce a new culture to my students, someone always asks, “Have you ever been there?” I am determined to be able to answer, “Yes!” as many times as possible. My exploration of China will be my first step to succeeding in that determination to reach my goal.
